Talk about “they don’t make ‘em like this anymore”! While I am a big fan of the first 4 or 5 M&P albums, I am the first to admit they are a tad slight on content. Yes, John Phillips could write and arrange hits and, yes, Mama Cass Elliott could sing ‘em… I am very fond of some of their singles, especially “Words Of Love” and “Creeque Alley”.

It took me a while to get mono & stereo copies of all of their early albums. During the 80’s, I always picked up “Best of” re-packagings etc. I also have some other 45’s, but no solo material, as far as I can remember. I’d buy their UK 4CD boxed set, if it crossed my path. I find it interesting that they re-mastered the early albums on CD. Also strange is that there virtually aren’t any credits, as far as the musicians that played on the early albums. Wrecking Crew, I presume? I have read John’s book, and I’ve seen a documentary or two, but it’s been a while. And why do I remember an instrumental song on "Deliver"…”Frustration”? (Over vocal arrangements?)

Thanks, John, Cass, Michelle & Denny.
