I have been a fan of Bo Hansson for 35+ years. I first heard “Music Inspired by Lord Of The Rings” on KPFK-FM (90.7) about 1972 or so, played on the science fiction radio show “Hour 25”, and also by other late night KPFK DJ’s. It wasn’t hard to find this LP, as it was in every $1 bin in

There is also a 1985 album called “Mitt I Livet” that I have somehow missed! Talking about “missed”…I didn’t even know that there were Bo Hansson records before “Lord Of The Rings” until I saw a copy of one in

I have read that Jimi Hendrix used to like to jam with Hansson & Karlsson – there is a song of theirs called “Tax Free” that appears on some Jimi Hendrix records…

Bo Hansson information!
There are three albums by “ Hansson & Karlsson “ on Polydor Sweden that preceed his Charisma LP’s: “Monument” (1967), “H&K” (1968) and “Man At The Moon” (1969). It is said that Jimi Hendrix used to enjoy jamming with Hansson & Karlsson, whenever he went to Sweden. The H&K song “Tax Free” appears on Hendrix’s posthumous “War Heroes” LP (and it’s definitely the same song!)
1. “Sagan Om Ringen” (Silence, 1970) = “Music Inspired by Lord Of The Rings”, new cover art for Charisma issue (1971), possibly some re-recording. The Swedish regard the two issues as two separate albums.
2. “Urtrollens Hatt” (Silence, 1972) = “Magician’s Hat”, Charisma LP adds a new song (cut 2, side 1), original Swedish issue has a longer version of cut 1, side 1. CD issue jumbles the original material with the addition (I don’t think they got the starting place right?)
3. “Mellanvasen” (Silence, 1975) = “Attic Thoughts”, new cover art for Charisma issue. CD issue adds a new track.
4. “El-Ahrairah” (YTF, 1977) = “Music Inspired by Watership Down”, new cover art for Charisma issue. CD issue adds a new track (perhaps more than one?)
5. “Mitt I Livet” (Silence, 1985) = I have never seen an LP or CD of this album, but it’s said to be his ‘farewell’ album. It is not pictured in the CD booklet for the “Mellanvasen” re-issue CD I obtained recently. Mr. Hansson is still alive.
